She's a constant in the stories of De Kiekeboes, dropping by in every book.
Merho: "You could compare her role to Alfred Hitchcock's cameo appearances in his own movies. As a director Hitchcock was always working in the background. But in every movie he directed, he made it a point of honor to come on the screen for a few moments. He may be spotted as a passenger in a bus or a tourist crossing a hotel lobby. The Fat Lady in the Kiekeboe books is also doing just that - she shows up for a few moments, then disappears again.
But this has turned her into an important feature of the stories. In the theater version of Baas boven baas she only had to walk across the scene to get a curtain call. Sometimes I play with the readers' expectations in that I have her pop up in the very last cartoon of the story."
